Featured content: Gerardo-Rico Suave

In 1991, Gerardo released the song “Rico Suave” and it quickly became one of the most popular songs in the United States reaching #7 on the Billboard Charts AND reached #2 on the Rap charts.

It is also one of the top 100 songs of the 90s by VH1

The video was also nominated Best Music Video by MTV.

And this was also one of the first “Latin” musicians to reach mainstream American culture.

The ironic thing is that most people in Mexico never even knew that this song existed.

So in today’s video we are showing our staff the “Rico Suave” music video and asking them:

What they think about this song?

Do they think it is representative of latin music?

Do they think this song would have been popular in Mexico in the 90s?

Who they think of as a REAL Mexican or Latin American pop star or musician from the 90s?

Check out the video and let us know what you think!!
