Offense Defense Formula

Most agencies get started by chance.

You learn a skill like web design, Facebook ads, or PPC.

A friend asks you to help them out.

You crush it for them.

And then that person starts referring you to THEIR friend and that friend refers you to more friends and before you know it you’ve got a full-fledged agency with clients, employees, contractors, and all the ups and downs that come with running an agency.

So now you’ve got all these agency responsibilities and because you don’t want to let anyone down (clients or employees) you’re always focusing on getting more leads and closing more deals to keep things rolling.

Or what we like to call “Offense”.

But after a couple years you find yourself stuck in the same spot and even though you are amazing at generating leads and closing new sales, you still see that you’re not growing your revenues and more frighteningly, not growing your profits.

AND the agency doesn’t seem to be as FUN anymore.

Want to know why?

It’s pretty simple and I will quote former Alabama Football Coach Bear Bryant to illustrate my point:

DEFENSE wins championships.

Now obviously this isn’t football, so what constitutes “Defense” in the agency world?

We classify Defense as:

  • Operations and Labor
  • Implementation and Fulfillment
  • Client Retention
  • Customer Experience and Customer Service
  • SOPs
  • Onboarding
  • Hiring Designers and Developers
  • Training

We’ve interviewed hundreds of agency owners over the years and almost all agencies are neglecting their “Defense”.

Sales (aka Offense) is actually the easy part.

OPERATIONS (aka Defense) is really where you make or lose all your money.

In fact, if you can improve your Defense by just 5% the Harvard Business Review says that you’ll increase your profits by 25% or more.

Sure, defense isn’t sexy.  Defense isn’t as creative and fun.

But defense is where you build a real business and where you will find the tools to thrive as an agency owner.

And the best part is that you don’t have to create a new Defensive Strategy on your own.

At DUDE, we’ve spent the last 8 years creating the perfect defense and so we pass our expertise off to you.

From giving you the staff to take on more projects and scale profitably, to helping you implement the systems and processes to maximize efficiency and improve retention, DUDE has it all laid out for you.

If you’re ready to win a “championship” with your agency, then schedule a call with us and we’ll show you exactly how to get more done, boost your Defense, improve your retention, and grow your agency.
